Orang Asli original tune, 'Geradong' to liven up walk programme

PUTRAJAYA, July 27 (Bernama) — The song 'Geradong', which is an original Orang Asli tune will welcome and cheer the arrival of Keluarga Malaysia participating in the ‘Berjalan Teguh Bersama’ programme at the traffic light intersection of the Ministry of Federal Territories (KWP) here this Saturday.

By using musical instruments such as ‘centong’ ‘kertok buluh’ and gong, the music team known as Kumpulan Bah Bola will play the song accompanied by the Sewang Orang Asli dance.

Unit Head of the Gombak Orang Asli Museum Suhaimi Osman when contacted by Bernama said the members of the Bah Bola Group consisted of the Semai tribe from Ulu Jelai, Kuala Lipis, Pahang.

"The Bah Bola group is always invited to perform at various government agencies and private agencies. Now the public can watch the Gema Orang Asal performance ‘live’," he said.

The Gema Orang Asal performance will take place at the first checkpoint that will be passed by the participants of the ‘Berjalan Teguh Bersama’ programme after the flag off of the participants at Dataran Putra for a 2.7-kilometre leisure walk.

The event will be held in conjunction with the launch of the National Month and the Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign and it is estimated that more than 10,000 members of Keluarga Malaysia will participate in the walk. 

The programme, carrying the message of the spirit of unity and togetherness of Malaysians, is one of the initiatives to support the aspirations of Keluarga Malaysia.

Suhaimi said the Bah Bola team led by Bah Sali Bah Nap is now actively preparing and training in conjunction with the programme.
