KYF student showcases digitally-designed evening gowns at Kelantan AKM Tour

KOTA BHARU, July 24 (Bernama) -- Inspired by the Kelantan Keluarga Malaysia Aspirations (AKM) Tour’s theme of Malaysian Family is Digital Family, a student of Kolej Yayasan Felda (KYF) came out with digitally-designed evening gowns which were showcased during the three-day tour held at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here.

Fadlullah Shaari, 21, said it took him two days to design the gowns, with ornaments that twinkle with battery-powered LED lights and is suitable for a fancy dinner event or for celebrities attending shows.

The student, who is pursuing a diploma in digital fashion, said he used the dreaping technique, which allows the production of the gowns using measurements which were taken directly from the mannequins without using flat drawing as the basis of the design on the satin fabric.

“All this was made possible with special computer software,” he said when met at the stadium here today.

Meanwhile, KYF Training and Academic Division senior manager Mohamad Rizam Hussin said, since Friday, many visitors had stopped at their booth to check out the digital evening gowns and expressed their admiration for Fadlullah’s bold and creative design.

“KYF is are just adding value to the current fashion industry and doing our best to guide our students to come out with more glamourous and trendy designs,” he told Bernama.

He said apart from Diploma in Digital Fashion, KYF also offers a degree in Global Digital Leadership (IT), a diploma in 3D Animedia Technology, certificates in video and film production as well as in drone piloting.
