SIBU, July 5 (Bernama) -- The 31st Infantry Brigade of the Malaysian Army is ready to help the government and the law enforcers in conducting raids to ensure no misappropriation of subsidised cooking oil in the country.
Its commander, Brig Gen Abdul Jalal Zaidi Abdul Majid said the duties of the infantry brigade were not only to safeguard the country but also to undertake any assignment to protect the public interest.
“We are ready and just waiting for the order,” he told reporters after attending the 7th anniversary of the bridge at the Junaco Camp here today.
He said this in response to the instruction made by the Prime Minister yesterday to have law enforcers conduct raids on manufacturers and repackaging companies (repackers) right to the country’s borders, to ensure no misappropriation of subsidised cooking oil.
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the raids, which would be conducted by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP), Royal Malaysia Police and the Armed Forces, aimed at ensuring that this year’s RM4 billion cooking oil subsidies would not leak at any level of the supply chain and would really reach the people and help alleviate their burden.
