KANGAR, June 18 (Bernama) -- After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ongoing seventh edition of the Perkampungan Sunnah (Sunnah Village), held from June 17 to 19, at the Alwi Mosque, received an overwhelming response.
Hafiz Ahmad Hafiz Jaafar, the programme director, said that as of today, more than 20,000 visitors had attended the programme, most of whom were young.
“Apart from the overwhelming response, the presence of youths is a positive sign that they are increasingly interested in the religious programme and want to find the truth,” he told Bernama here today.
He said apart from the people of Perlis, visitors from Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Cambodia also participated in the programme.
“Due to a large number of visitors and most of the hotels are fully booked, the organisers have requested cooperation from the management of Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail Mosque and Darul Ibadah Mosque to give permission to some visitors to use the facilities and sleep in the mosque,” he said.
Hafiz Ahmad said the programme, themed 'Bangkit Membela Sunnah', has lined up various activities such as religious lectures and forums related to the Sunnah to provide necessary information to the public.
