SANDAKAN, May 24 (Bernama) -- Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has allocated over RM92 million to help entrepreneurs in Sabah to be more competitive in line with the current economic pressure.
Its chairman, Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun, said the funds were provided since the country was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 until April this year.
“MARA has undertaken various efforts, such as the MARA Prihatin programme: Peace of Mind 4.0, aiming to ease the burden of those who had taken education loans and MARA business loans and were affected by the pandemic.
“MARA borrowers are urged not to miss this opportunity to alleviate their financial burden following COVID-19," she told reporters after launching the Peace of Mind 4.0 programme and MARA Sabah Entrepreneurs Appreciation programme, here last night.
According to Azizah, the agency also runs a credit recovery programme to reschedule and restructure loan repayments.
Azizah, who is also the Beaufort MP, added that the initiative gives customers a second chance to reduce their commitments by extending the loan repayment period up to 10 years to improve their company’s financial standings.
“Through this initiative, the borrowers have the opportunity to defer legal action that should be imposed on borrowers as well as give a second chance to improve their credit position with MARA," she added.
