Senior citizens feted at UDA Holdings' Aidilfitri do

JOHOR BAHRU, May 23 (Bernama) -- Some 40 senior citizens were feted at an Aidilfitri celebration organised by property development and asset management company UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA).

UDA chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim said at the event, the residents of Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Nur Ehsan, here, also received RM200 in cash and contributions of raya cookies.

“Hopefully, this small contribution will bring smiles to them and make their Raya celebrations more meaningful.

“UDA, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, UDA Cares, always takes the intiative to reach out to the needy, especially during special occassions such as Aidilfitri. I hope that this initiative can also help strengthen the relationship between UDA and the local community,” she said at the Meriah Raya event held at Angsana Johor Bahru Mall, here today.

Also present were UDA president and chief executive officer Mohd Salem Kailany, members of UDA senior management as well as Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Nur Ehsan founder Sharipin Shahlan.

The event was also attended by 2,000 guests including customers and tenants of Angsana Johor Bahru Mall, representatives of UDA Land South Sdn Bhd, government departments and private companies.

Norliza said UDA is always looking for ways to diversify UDA Cares activities so that more people will enjoy the benefits of the assistance provided under the programme.

“The UDA Cares initiative is also in line with UDA’s rebranding concept, namely LIFE, which emphasises ‘Legacy’, ‘Integrated’, ‘Finesse’ and ‘Enrich’,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Salem said the reopening of the country’s borders on April 1 has helped revive businesses at shopping malls in the state, including Angsana Johor Bahru Mall.

“This shopping mall (Angsana Johor Bahru Mall) managed to maintain its good occupancy rate, namely at 94 per cent in April. This is a positive sign for the shopping mall industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said UDA had has drawn up various interesting activities to boost the operation of Angsana Johor Baru Mall and attract more visitors to the shopping mall.

Among them are the Euro Fun Park that is currently being held at Padang Begonia, located next to the shopping mall, as well as the Malaysian Wedding Festival and a ceremony to mark the 100th year of cooperatives in Malaysia which is expected to take place next month.
