RTM played role in Malaysia’s success in entering transition to endemic phase

KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s success in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic until it enters the transition to endemic phase was also contributed by the effective campaigns through various channels such as Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin said following the aggressive campaigns, the people could now go about their normal daily activities without any fear.

“If we go to urban areas now, we can see that people are no longer afraid. Why? Because we have won and our campaign on RTM and in the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOMM) was successful.

“Therefore, I congratulate all RTM staff because we have succeeded in fighting a national threat and the people listen and are willing to work with us (the government),” he said.

Zahidi said this during K-KOMM Minister’s meet and greet session with Broadcasting Department staff here today. Also present was director-general of Broadcasting Datuk Che Roslan Che Daud.

Meanwhile, Che Roslan reminded RTM staff to appreciate the Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) aspirations which comprised the value of inclusivity, common ground and contentment in carrying out their duties.

He said they should also strengthen their integrity and inner self to avoid getting caught up in unwanted situations such as malpractice.

“This should be done at all levels because RTM deals with many external parties for sponsorship, air time, and so on,” he told reporters after the Broadcasting Department’s monthly assembly and Aidilfitri celebration in Angkasapuri.

Che Roslan also urged RTM staff to improve the communication system between various units and divisions so that the role of disseminating information to the public can be implemented more effectively.
