MELAKA, May 17 (Bernama) -- The Melaka Registrar of Societies (RoS) has recommended the approval of Malaysian Incentive Community Empowerment (MyICE) to 44 associations in the state involving an allocation totalling RM440,000.
State Youth, Sports and Non -Governmental Organisation (NGO) Development Exco, V.P. Shanmugam said of the total, 23 applications have been approved by the evaluation committee at RoS headquarters level while another 21 applications will be considered.
He said each association received a MyICE grant of RM10,000 to implement programmes that were suitable for the association's category as registered under the RoS.
"Overall, this year RoS Melaka received an allocation of RM1 million to be distributed to associations registered under the department involving four categories of association namely welfare, security, social and human rights.
"However, so far RoS Melaka has only received 70 applications and 44 of them have been recommended for approval while another 19 are at the scrutiny stage and seven more applications have been rejected," he told reporters here today.
He said this after officiating the closing ceremony of the MyICE grant briefing as well as a mock cheque presentation which was also attended by Melaka RoS director Nurhafidah Ali.
At the ceremony, a total of 23 associations which had received approval recommendations from the RoS received a replica of the cheque involving an allocation of RM230,000 for phase one of this year.
