New attraction for thrill seekers at Escape Penang

12/05/2022 04:39 PM

GEORGE TOWN, May 12 (Bernama) -- ESCAPE Penang is offering a new tourism attraction for thrill seekers with the unveiling and launch of the world’s longest Zip Coaster, a 1.1-kilometre ride.

The Zip Coaster has also entered into the Guinness World Records, therefore making the theme park the first and only themed destination in the country to have two standing Guinness World Records including the world’s longest water slide, proudly putting Malaysia prominently on the world tourism map.

Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak said innovations spurred by a global mindset are key to the next quantum leap in Penang’s economic development and he hopes other Penang-based companies would follow suit in developing world-class attractions not only for the advancement of Penang, but Malaysia as a whole.

“I am glad to see that Sim Leisure Group has played its part in bringing new and innovative rides to once again invite visitors near and far with internationally recognised attractions, which is especially important as we rebound into a post-pandemic era, with the reopening of Malaysia’s borders.

“I would like to see Penang rise up to its finest potential of being a destination, not only for tourism, but also as an internationally recognised modern hub for business, commerce, IT, healthcare and education. At the same time, I would like to see Penang companies venture globally, to bring their expertise, goods, and services to international customers,” he said at the launch here today.

Owner and operator of ESCAPE Penang, Sim Leisure Group founder and chief executive officer, Sim Choo Kheng said in creating the new ride, he emphasised that every effort was made to preserve the natural environment in which ESCAPE Penang is located, amidst lush trees and foliage.

With sustainability at the core, he said one big priority for the company was not to affect the natural greenery and nature within and around ESCAPE Penang as part of its commitment to preserve the natural environment and allowing visitors to reconnect with nature.

“We have started building this ride since June 2020 and we have spent close to RM700,000 on this project. We hope local and international tourists will come visit us to get an extraordinary experience,” he added.

In conjunction with the launch, ESCAPE Penang has partnered with two notable brands to offer visitors an unforgettable experience, namely Captain Oats and Travelodge.

Through the partnership, ESCAPE Penang would benefit from Captain Oats’ extensive reach across Asia and the Middle East, gaining access to these markets in the form of promotional tie-ups across online and offline platforms

Meanwhile, Travelodge has been named ESCAPE Penang’s official hotel partner of the Zip Coaster launch, whereby visitors would be entitled to purchase special accommodation rates in Travelodge Georgetown and Ipoh, with nightly rates ranging from RM150 to RM220.
