KUALA BERANG -- The Hulu Terengganu District Police Headquarters (IPD) has established an eye-catching field operations centre at the Ajil Toll Plaza here for Ops Selamat from tomorrow to May 8.

Hulu Terengganu police chief DSP Mohd Adli Mat Daud said the multi-purpose centre was assembled from discarded Toyota Fortuner vehicles, used iron and roofing. "This product of creativity made from second-hand items by Hulu Terengganu IPD was an entry for the PDRM Persada Innovation awards last year, where we emerged runner-up to receive a certificate of recognition and cash prize of RM3,000 for the novelty.

"We modifed the space inside into a mobile police station, operations centre and front control post to provide services to the public more quickly and efficiently," he said at the Ajil Toll Plaza here today.

He said the centre, built in three months from second-hand goods costing RM15,000, was a one-stop facility for the public to file complaints, seek emergency aid or latest information related to Hulu Terengganu without making a trip to the police station.

"It was used last March for Ops when floods hit Kampung Jenagor.
