COPS ISSUE RM95,000 WORTH OF COMPOUNDS FOR SOP VIOLATIONS AT NIGHTSPOT
KUALA LUMPUR -- Ninety-four patrons at an entertainment centre here were compounded RM1,000 each for violating Phase Four standard operating procedures (SOP) of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Kuala Lumpur Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) chief Datuk Azman Ayob said all the individuals, aged 20 to 50, were issued compounds under Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021.
The owner of the premises was issued a RM10,000 compound for operating an entertainment outlet during Phase Four of the NRP, he said in a statement today.
Azman said police operations would be continued to curb the spread of COVID-19 for the well-being of the community.

TRAILER DRIVER, ATTENDANT KILLED IN CRASH AT JALAN LIPIS-MERAPOH
KUANTAN - A trailer driver and his attendant were killed after the vehicle skidded while going down a hill at KM55 of Jalan Lipis-Merapoh here today.
Lipis district police chief Supt Azli Mohd Noor said Mohamad Syawal Ahmad Basari, 34, from Tapah, Perak and his assistant, Mohd Faizal Mohd Noor, 35, from Kota Bharu, Kelantan died at the scene of the 7am crash.
“Preliminary investigation found that the vehicle which was carrying a load of iron from Kuala Lipis towards Merapoh, was believed to have lost control and skidded to the left when going down a winding road,” he said in a statement today.
Their remains were sent to Kuala Lipis Hospital for post mortem and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

QUARRY ROCKFALL: FIRE DEPT TO DISCUSS WITH POLICE ON OPERATION STATUS
IPOH -- Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) will hold talks with the police on the status of the search and rescue (SAR) operations for two victims who were believed to be still buried under the rubbles in Keramat Pulai, Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands in March.
Perak JBPM director, Azmi Osman said the discussion was to determine whether to continue or completely close the SAR operation. Currently, the authorities are carrying out small-scale operations.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the Fire Safety Campaign for the Elimination of Fire Hazards in conjunction with Aidilfitri here today.
On March 8, two victims were missing while another two, Mohd Razli Suhaimi, 35, and Pan Tam, 38, managed to escape with injuries.
