PMDIC now has nine branches

PUTRAJAYA, April 20 (Bernama) -- Professional Mutawwif Development International College (PMDIC), the first college to offer a Diploma in Management Skills programme for Umrah and Ziarah Mutawwif in Malaysia, now has nine branches all over the country.

Professional Mutawwif Development Sdn Bhd (PMDSB) managing director Abd Halim Ikhsan said to date, more than 250 students are finishing their two-year study in the field since it was established in 2020.

He said PMDIC has branches operating in Perak, Melaka, Selangor, Sabah and Sarawak. 

“The programme offered at PMDIC is based on TVET (Technical and Vocational Education Training) and it has already received accreditation from the Department of Skills Development in April 2021.

“In the coming months, PMDIC will begin operations at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia in Johor, Kolej Universiti Yayasan Pahang in Pahang and Universiti Teknologi MARA Penang branch,” he said at the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PMDSB and the Association of Bumiputera Tourism Operating Companies Malaysia (Bumitra) here today.

Abd Halim represented PMDSB while Bumitra was represented by its Training and Product Development Bureau head Dr Wan Muhammad Adam Wan Norudin.

Describing the MoU exchange as a proactive move towards creating binding cooperation between PMDSB and more than 600 tourism agencies registered under Bumitra, Abd Halim said the cooperation was important for both parties in spearheading the future umrah and tourism industry.

“Furthermore, PMDIC is expected to produce more mutawwif graduates thus facilitating the affairs of industry partners to select professional mutawwif as icons or as employees of their respective companies,” he said.

PMDSB was formed on Oct 16, 2019 with the aim of empowering education and acknowledging mutawwif as a career at the national and international level by developing special modules for the mutawwif programme.
