UTP wins 16 medals at Malaysia Technology Expo 2022

SERI ISKANDAR, April 13 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) inventors won eight gold and seven silver medals with one of the inventions accorded special recognition at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2022.

UTP in a statement said this was a commendable and outstanding achievement for UTP that will contribute to the university's resume of successful homegrown inventions, innovations, and technologies recognised internationally.

“It will open opportunities for commercialising the university’s new products and ideas,” it said.

The inventions that won the gold medals are the Augmented Reality (AR) App for Centrifugal Gas Pump (ARCP) which also received the Outstanding Innovation Award; PREDITACK: An loT-Enabled Pest Management Device for invasive Mollusc in Paddy Fields; Smart Permeability Modifier; Autism Made Easy; HyCoat Mixed Electro-discharge Machining Simultaneous Machining and Hybrid Coating of Biomedical Implants; Digitalising Operations and Maintenance via Artificial Intelligence (DOMAIN); Ultra Long-Range Acoustic Technology (ULRAT); and ValveStic.

The seven inventions that won the silver medals are the Oil-based Defoamer for Oil and Gas Applications; MHP Toolbox; A Drop Type Fixed Bed Reactor and a Method for in Situ Upgrading of Bio-Oil from Biomass; Autonomous Wheelchair for Carrying Pilgrimage to Perform Tawaf and Saie; E-CLASS, Digital Twin and Predictive Maintenance Software of Dry-Low Emission (DLE) Gas Turbine; and the Smart Crack Technology Instrument (SCT).

According to the statement, MTE has grown to become one of the region’s most recognised and respected international invention exhibitions connecting with industry players.
