CYBERJAYA, March 22 (Bernama) -- The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) has assured the 558 house buyers of the Aspire Residence @ Cyberjaya project by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) will be ready around July 2023 after being delayed since 2019.
Housing and Local Government Minister, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the housing project with 1,168 units that took off in 2016 was categorised as a ‘sick’ project due to the cash flow problem of the contractor, Sterling Prima Sdn Bhd, thus affected its construction.
He said SPNB and Sterling Prima mutually terminated the project implementation yesterday, meaning that SPNB would take over the whole project and would appoint a new contractor soon.
“Upon visiting the SPNB Aspire Residence project here today, I see that the progress is now at 85 per cent.
“This project has been scheduled to be ready in 16 months and it will be around July 2023 and then handed over to the buyers,” he added.
In safeguarding the interest of the affected buyers, Reezal Merican said SPNB had been ordered to deal with the liquidated ascertained damages (LAD) for late delivery as stipulated in the sales and purchase agreement so as to offset any losses incurred by the house buyers.
