JOHOR BAHRU, March 10 -- The Election Commission (EC) today held Solat Hajat, Yasin recital and prayers for the smooth running of the Johor state polls at Masjid Habib Hassan Al-Attas Wadi Hassan here.
About 70 congregants including EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak participated in the event which was held in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) as prescribed by the National Security Council (MKN).
The ceremony, led by imam Muhammad Asyraf Hairam, began with the recitation of Yasin, followed by supplication, ‘doa selamat’ and Maghrib prayers as well as Solat Hajat.
The Johor State polls on Saturday will see 239 candidates contesting 56 state seats.
A total of 2,597,742 voters are eligible to vote with 173,177 of them being first-time voters aged 18 to 20.
