Join APPGM to further localise SDG- Saifuddin

05/03/2022 09:16 PM

JOHOR BAHRU, March 5 -- Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah urged the Members of Parliament (MPs) to join the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM) to further localise and encourage the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) efforts among their constituents.

According to him, 30 MPs have already joined APPGM for this purpose.

"Each member will organise four to five projects in a year to localise the SDG targets among the constituents. Slowly but surely, we'll be able to create awareness of SDG among members of the public through these projects.

"As such, we would like to invite more MPs to join this cause," he told Bernama after an SDG dialogue session at EduCity Hub in Bandar Medini Iskandar, here, today which was attended by 60 university students of various nationalities.

Saifuddin said the ministry was planning to extend its SDG localisation efforts to the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia, particularly at the Thailand-Malaysia border.

"Almost 50 per cent of the border trade between these two countries happen there. Thus, we're taking this dynamic into account in our localisation efforts," he added.
