RTM IS OFFICIAL BROADCASTER OF 2022 BEIJING WINTER OLYMPICS

KUALA LUMPUR -- Local sports enthusiasts will have the opportunity to follow the exciting moments of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics from Feb 4 to 20, when Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) becomes the official broadcaster of the Games.

RTM will broadcast the opening ceremony live on Feb 4 on TV2, the Sukan RTM channel and channel 111 Myfreeview as well as via the rtmklik.rtm.gov.my website at 7.55 pm, according to a statement from RTM.

Viewers can follow the 2022 Beijing daily report on the RTM Sports channel from 9 am to 12 noon, 2 pm to 5 pm and 8pm to 10 pm, while the daily roundup of the Winter Olympics will be aired at 8 am and 11 pm.

The main focus is definitely on the alpine skiing event involving the participation of two Malaysian athletes, namely Jeffrey Webb, 23, (men's slalom) and Aruwin Idami Salehhuddin, 17, (women's slalom and giant slalom).

EMCO IN FELDA CHEMOMOI, BENTONG, PAHANG FROM FRIDAY (JAN 28) - MKN

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will be enforced in Felda Chemomoi in Mukim Sabai, Bentong, Pahang from tomorrow (Jan 28) to Feb 10.

National Security Council (MKN) director-general Datuk Rodzi Md Saad said in a statement posted on Facebook that the decision was made following the presentation of the risk assessment and COVID-19 infection trend in the locality by the Health Ministry.

10 VEHICLES DAMAGED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN, STRONG WINDS IN SECTION 13, SHAH ALAM

SHAH ALAM -- Ten vehicles were reported to have been damaged, so far, following heavy rain and strong winds that hit the Section 13 area here this afternoon.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said they received a report that a tree had fallen and hit two vehicles at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Premier Polytechnic traffic light junction at 5 pm. The victims managed to escape unscathed. 

He said they also received another report that eight vehicles were damaged due to the roof of a supermarket parking lot in the area being blown away by the strong winds. No one was hurt in the 5 pm incident either.

Meanwhile, 13 houses at Lorong Bunga Raya 3, Jalan Kampung Bunga, Section 22, here had their roofs blown off by the strong winds.

KEMAS: DON'T NEGLECT MAIN DUTIES WHEN INVOLVED IN POLITICS

IPOH -- Teachers and staff of the Community Development Department (KEMAS) can engage in politics provided they do not neglect their main duties, said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

"KEMAS folk are like ordinary people, they are free to be involved in politics. I think that is what the prime pinister meant.

“For instance, a teacher can be involved in politics so long as he doesn't abandon his classroom," he told a press conference after the Perak KEMAS staff meeting at the Greentown Federal Building, here, today.

DECOY ELEPHANT STAR ATTRACTION AT TERENGGANU AGRICULTURE CARNIVAL

JERTEH -- A decoy elephant named Suria, which was specially brought from the Sungai Deka National Elephant Conservation Centre in Hulu Terengganu, has become the star attraction of visitors to the Terengganu Agricultural Year Carnival in Jabi, here.

State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Food, Plantation, Commodity and Rural Development Committee chairman Dr Azman Ibrahim said the presence of the 22-year-old female elephant enlivened the three-day carnival which began today.

"We expect to attract about 100,000 visitors during this carnival. Visitors definitely want to take a closer look of this decoy elephant that is used to tame wild elephants," he said after officiating the carnival today.
