Denial of viral fake news on Jan 18 - KKMM

18/01/2022 07:02 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 -- The following is the denial of viral news on social media by the agency concerned through a media statement by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia's (KKMM) Quick Response Team today.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) has denied a claim made on Twitter on Jan 13, 2022, that many among the ‘VVIP group’ in MAFI had tested positive for COVID-19.

The netizen further claimed that there was no action taken by the Ministry of Health, nor was there any quarantine order issued, which could potentially endanger other staff.

MAFI said that to date, no VVIP at the ministry had tested positive COVID-19, and that the ministry was always monitoring and ensuring compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the government.

The public is advised not to easily trust any information on social media that isn’t from a valid source, and to check the official websites and social media channels of the ministries, departments or agencies to obtain the most accurate and timely updates.
