KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 -- The recent change in the leadership of the Professional Film Workers' Association of Malaysia (PROFIMA) reflects that the film industry crew members want to see changes that are in line with the current work culture and situation.
In a statement today, PROFIMA said as such its leadership would implement a transformation plan that would serve as a guideline for the association to equip its members with skills in line with current needs.
It will focus on bringing changes to several agendas including improving PROFIMA's operational governance system, education and skills development as well as the welfare of members and their families.
In the meantime, PROFIMA called on those who work behind the scenes and students of film studies to register as PROFIMA members and to be actively involved in every activity carried out by the association.
"By being a PROFIMA member, we can protect the rights and needs of the crew in the industry. It will also ensure that the works produced are of better quality thus further developing the country's film industry," the statement said.
PROFIMA also reminded all film crew members to prepare themselves mentally and physically to face new challenges in the industry such as the adoption of digital technologies as well as working under new normal.
