4G COVERAGE IN LABUAN INCREASES TO NEARLY 98 PCT - KKMM
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The 4G internet coverage in populated areas in Labuan has increased to 97.98 per cent in the third quarter this year compared to 97.40 per cent before the implementation of the National Digital Network Plan (JENDELA) in the third quarter of last year.
The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) in a reply posted on the Parliament website today informed that the initiative to upgrade digital infrastructure in Labuan through Phase One of JENDELA from September last year was expected to complete in stages until the end of next year.
“Efforts to improve the (4G) network will be continued in areas that already have coverage to provide better experience quality to users,” said the ministry in response to the question raised by Datuk Rozman Isli (Warisan-Labuan) on KKMM’s plans to provide comprehensive and high-quality broadband coverage in Labuan.

MCMC RECEIVES OVER 15,000 ONLINE HARASSMENT COMPLAINTS FROM 2016
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) received 15,238 public complaints related to online harassment from 2016 until Sept 30 this year.
The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) said the complaints included sexual harassment, threats, intimidation as well as misuse of personal information and photos with the intention to persecute or humiliate certain individuals.
“Within the period, a total of 963 cases were investigated by MCMC related to misuse of social media involving offences under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588) of which 60 cases were brought to court,” it said in a reply posted on the Parliament website today.
KKMM was responding to a question raised by Nurul Izzah Anwar (PH-Permatang Pauh) on the number of online harassment complaints received by MCMC by gender, age, race, types of complaints as well as the states of the complainants and the offenders between 2016 and 2021, in addition to the number of complaints investigated and actions taken.

15 PCT OF IPT LECTURERS, STUDENTS NOT VACCINATED - MOHE
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- About 15 per cent or 168,000 lecturers and students of higher learning institutions (IPT) have not been vaccinated due to health reasons as well as not being ready to receive the COVID-19 vaccines.
The Ministry of Higher Learning (MOHE) in a reply posted on the Parliament website said meanwhile, a total of 1,101,779 have received their jabs as of October 30.
“Follow-up measures such as counselling sessions and special briefings to explain the importance of taking the vaccines and that vaccination does not bring harm will be held continuously to ensure they are all fully vaccinated,” it added.
MOHE was replying to a question from Dr Lee Boon Chye (PH-Gopeng) who wanted to know the number of IPT lecturers and students who have yet to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
