KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 – Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (PruBSN), through its charity arm, PruBSN Prihatin has collaborated with Our Optometris, to provide children with better vision through its ‘Vision for Education’ programme.
In a statement, PruBSN said Our Optometris, a social enterprise organisation and PruBSN have decided to come together to run the ‘Vision for Education’ programme to provide better vision for underprivileged students.
“We hope to provide corrective actions for underprivileged children with vision impairment so that they could improve their learning abilities and reach their highest potential.
“With that, students can perform better in their daily routines such as playing sports and other recreational activities,’ said PruBSN Prihatin president Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail.
“Eyeglasses and treatments can be expensive for the poor, hence this is why we are addressing their needs for an improved quality of education,” he added.
‘Vision for Education’ has benefited more than 1,000 schoolchildren throughout Malaysia. In April 2021, the programme was extended to hospitals with the collaboration of the Ministry of Health (MOH), he said.
Meanwhile, MOH Head of the Optometry Profession, Datin Rosmawati Uthman hoped that this programme could be expanded to all MOH facilities that provide optometry services in order to benefit more children.
