900,000 CASH AID RECIPIENTS IN SARAWAK ARE IN B40 GROUP
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- A total 900,000 cash aid recipients in Sarawak for Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH), Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN), Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) and Bantuan Khas COVID19 (BKC) are in the B40 category.
Deputy Finance Minister II Yamani Hafez Musa told Dewan Rakyat today all the recipients had received the cash aid amounting to RM3.59 billion.
“Meanwhile, 240,000 recipients are in the M40 category and have received cash aid of RM290 million.
“This brings the total recipients in Sarawak to 1.14 million with an allocation of RM3.88 billion,” he told Anyi Ngau (GPS-Baram) who wanted to know the number of recipients of financial allocation channelled to the B40 and M40 groups in Sarawak.

4,822 PWD AFFECTED BY COVID-19 PANDEMIC RECEIVE RM1,500 AID
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- A total 4,822 persons with disabilities (PwD), whose incomes were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, received a monthly aid of RM500 for three months, starting September.
Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff said the ministry also extended the PwD Work Allowance to 92,265 recipients regardless of whether they were still employed or had lost their jobs.
“Other than the ministry, the People's Protection and Economic Recovery Package (PEMULIH) incentive is also offered by the government through the Ministry of Human Resources to help employers maintain their workers and control the numbers of workers terminated including PwD,” he said.
He was responding to a question from Sim Tze Tzin (PH-Bayan Baru) at the question-and-answer session in Dewan Rakyat today, on the statistics of PwD who had lost their income and employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the method used by the ministry to help them.

BANK RELAXES CONDITIONS FOR PTF - NANCY
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has informed that the banks involved have relaxed the conditions for the PENJANA Tourism Financing (PTF), said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
She said that, among others, applicants no longer need to submit audited bank accounts but a bank statement with a positive transaction was sufficient.
She said her ministry had held several series of discussions with BNM to scrutinise the issue of the conditions imposed.
Nancy said this when winding up the debate on the 2022 Supply Bill at policy level in Dewan Rakyat today.

KKMM WILL DISCUSS FORMULATING MEDIA COUNCIL BILL
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- Further discussions on the amendment or enactment of new laws relating to the Media Council Bill must be held before it is finalised and tabled in Parliament.
The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) in its answer which was posted in the Parliamentary website said further discussions on the matter must be carried out together with other related ministries or agencies.
“This ministry must consider in detail the proposals to abolish and to amend the related acts which are under the jurisdictions of various ministries and agencies,” said KKMM when replying to a question from Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang) on the time frame for tabling the Media Council Bill and the current conditions for the setting up of the council.

150,000 DIGITAL DEVICES HANDED OVER TO B40 STUDENTS
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- A total 150,000 digital devices through the Cerdik Fund initiative were distributed to selected B40 students on October 29.
The Ministry of Education, in its reply posted on the Parliamentary website today, said that the CERDIK Fund initiative was a digital device giving programme complete with data plan to 150,000 B40 students which was implemented by the Hasanah Foundation, namely, a welfare organisation under Khazanah Nasional.
“Of the total, 429 units of devices have been distributed to five schools in the Tanjong Manis Parliamentary area,” said the ministry.
The ministry was replying to a question by Yusuf Abd Wahab (GPS-Tanjong Manis) who wanted to know the status of giving of computers or devices to students in the Parliamentary area and the number which would be distributed next year.
