LANGKAWI, Nov 16 -- The Buy Malaysian Products Campaign (KBBM) is helping increase sales for small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) after the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
Honey entrepreneur, Mohd Fitri Aziz, 40, acknowledged that the campaign by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has been beneficial for his company, Aura Sunnah Legacy Sdn Bhd.
“Last year, sales dropped to RM400,000 compared to sales of RM1 million in the previous year. This year, however, we’re confident the campaign will help us make RM1 million in sales again.
“KPDNHEP has helped us a lot through KBBM, especially by promoting our products online. We feel very grateful that business has picked up and recorded sales like before,” he told Bernama.
Mohd Fitri said that his madu lebah tualang and madu lebah kelulut (forest honey) are selling well domestically and in neighbouring countries like Singapore.
“As everyone knows, honey has many health benefits, can treat a wide array of illnesses and is safe for all ages,” he said, adding that he received guidance from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) and its agencies.
KPDNHEP deputy minister, Datuk Rosol Wahid, launched the national level KBBM 2021 on Saturday (Nov 13) at Dataran Cenang Langkawi.
