KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 -- Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) will take quick action within 24 hours to complaints and information on potholes and road damage in the federal capital.
Federal Territories Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim said he had discussed the matter with DBKL and ordered it to take immediate action to such complaints.
“(The public) can call the minister at 019-4545111, deputy minister (019-6524444) or mayor (016-2068883). Ready to act round the clock. Those who have just arrived in Kuala Lumpur should call (any of the numbers given), if they see a pothole. We will take action within 24 hours.”
He said this when winding up the debate on the 12th Malaysia Plan for his ministry in the Dewan Rakyat today while his revealing the phone numbers drew laughter from the Members of Parliament before the sitting was adjourned for lunch break.
According to Shahidan, DBKL was always monitoring the road conditions in Kuala Lumpur, especially near development projects, along the main roads and at major focal areas to ensure repair and resurfacing works were carried out.
Shahidan also stated the ministry’s commitment to carrying out policies and development as best as possible, including attracting investments to make the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan more developed through collaboration with various parties.
He also announced an affordable-housing project under the ministry, namely, Residensi Prihatin, at the price of up to RM200,000 for a 750 sq ft unit for the B40 group and rebranded as Residensi Keluarga Malaysia.
“The Federal Territories Ministry will ensure the provision of affordable homes for residents and built near or with easy access to public transportation such as the MRT and LRT,” he said.
