TENOM, Sept 23 -- The body of a 12-year-old boy who went missing after the boat he was on overturned in Sungai Padas, Kampung Kalandos Pangi here yesterday was found this afternoon.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Misran Bisara said the victim, identified as Melvin Junaidi, was found by members of the public at Sungai Padas Batu 60, Beaufort at 4.45 pm today.
He said the body was found around 33 kilometres from the scene of the incident.
"The victim was confirmed dead by medical officers and was handed to the police for further action. The body was brought to Kampung Binunuk to be identified by the victim’s family.
"The second victim, a 55-year-old man has yet to be found. Search and rescue efforts were suspended at 4 pm today and will resume tomorrow,” he told reporters when contacted tonight.
In yesterday afternoon’s incident, two individuals, including the boy, were feared to have drowned after their boat overturned in Sungai Padas, Kampung Kalandos Pangi here.
