“The Ababil Exercise at the Target Range involved air-to-air and air-to-surface missile firing training,” he told reporters after witnessing the Ababil Exercise in Kota Belud here today.

Affendi said the training involved RMAF aircraft from various categories, among them the fighter jet F/A-18D  Hornet, Sukhoi SU-30MKM and Hawk 208. Also involved were the transport plane Hercules C130H, maritime aircraft Beechcraft B200T and EC 725 AP helicopters.

He added that the air-to-ground missile firing today saw the RMAF fighter jets shooting at specified targets.

“The success of this training is also an achievement that was accomplished as a result of the commitment and sacrifices by the men to ensure that level of RMAF’s readiness is always at the highest level for the sake of the nation’s sovereignty,” he said.
