KANGAR, Aug 26 -- The Perlis Football Association (PFA) has taken the best measure to create a local football club called Perlis United Football Club (UFC) which is now playing in the Malaysia League Division 3 or M3.
State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Hamizan Hassan said the football club was formed in line with the privatisation of Malaysia League by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
“It refers to the separation of the state football association (FA) from Football Club (FC),” he told the State Legislative Assembly sitting at the Perlis State Assembly Complex today.
Hamizan (BN-Kayang) was replying to an oral question by Mohd Shukri Ramli (PAS-Sanglang) on the development of football in Perlis.
Hamizan said with the policy, football clubs have permanent owners with full responsibilities to look after the welfare of players as well as the football players development programme in the state.
““PFA has also created a company, Optimus Sports Sdn Bhd to manage the club and the state government has given its support to enable the club to be registered with the Malaysian Sports Commissioner in January this year,” he said.
He added that said the state government would not interfere in the administration and management of PFA.
