IRB TELEPHONE SERVICE AT ALL BRANCHES RESUME OPERATIONS ON AUG 1
KUALA LUMPUR -- The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) telephone services at all its branches nationwide will resume operations on Sunday (Aug 1).
IRB, in a statement today, said all its telephone services will operate from 9 am to 4 pm, based on the working days in the respective states.
“Customers can check IRB branch telephone numbers through its official website at www.hasil.gov.my. Any inquiries and related feedback can be submitted to the IRB through the Care Line at 03-8911 1000/ 603-8911 1100 (Overseas); HASiL Live Chat and feedback form on the LHDNM official portal,” it said.

ABOLISH IRRELEVANT VARSITY FEES TO REDUCE STUDENTS’ BURDEN
KUALA LUMPUR -- A Johor Bahru Member of Parliament (MP) today requested that the Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) make it compulsory for all higher education institutions (IPT) and universities to abolish irrelevant tuition fees to ease students’ burden while the country is still facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the fees for hostel, library and sports facilities must be abolished as students are now learning online and not using the universities’ facilities.
“Previously, the MOHE has allowed public university students a fee reduction of up to 35 per cent, but until today, students are still complaining that they are required to pay those fees even when they are not on campus,” he told a press conference at the Parliament Building here today.

TEACHERS FROM 20 SCHOOLS ATTEND EFFECTIVE PdPR TRAINING SESSIONS
KUALA LUMPUR -- Universiti Malaya (UM) through the Community and Sustainability Centre (UMCares) has trained over 220 teachers from 11 primary schools and nine secondary schools in Bangsar and Petaling Utama on the integration of the Microsoft 365 Education technology.
The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), Fedelis Sdn Bhd (Microsoft in Education Global Training Partner), Bangsar as well as Petaling Utama District Education Offices.
Microsoft Innovative Teachers Programme: Train the Trainers project head, Dr Donnie Adams, said the programme was organised to help teachers overcome difficulties in implementing home-based teaching and learning (PDPr), especially in enhancing skills and adapting to technology.
“The project is aimed at training teachers on the integration of the Microsoft 365 Education in the PDPr session in line with the 21st-Century Skills and the UNESCO ICT Framework for teachers,” he said in a statement today.

MAN FINED RM2,800 FOR PASTING LOAN ADVERTISEMENTS
BUKIT MERTAJAM -- A 42-year-old unemployed man was fined RM2,800 by the Magistrate’s Court here today after he pleaded guilty to putting up loan advertisements on July 26.
Rosman Darus made the plea after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Sri Pracha Nanthini Balabedha.
According to the charge sheet, Rosman committed the offence at Jalan Nangka here at about 10.30 am last Monday.

OVER 900 PREGNANT WOMEN REGISTER FOR VACCINATION IN NEGERI SEMBILAN
SEREMBAN -- Over 900 pregnant women have registered for vaccination under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), said Negri Sembilan Health, Environment, Cooperatives, and Consumerism committee chairman S.Veerapan.
He said 30 expectant mothers would be receiving the vaccine daily, beginning next week.
“The specialist doctors have advised that only those who in their 14 to 33 weeks of pregnancy should be allowed to receive the vaccine while those beyond 33 weeks of pregnancy are recommended to get the vaccine after delivery.
“Pregnant mothers can seek advice from their doctors regarding the vaccination,” he said in a statement today.
