Merdeka specials: MATFA to give free tickets, vouchers to fully-vaccinated individuals

KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 -- The Malaysian Association of Amusement Theme Park and Family Attractions (MATFA) will give away RM640,000 worth of complimentary tickets and special vouchers at all theme parks and family entertainment centres (FEC) as well as recreational centres owned by MATFA members on Aug 31 to individuals who have completed the two-dose COVID-19 vaccination.

In a statement today, MATFA said this is one way to show the spirit of nationhood in conjunction with this year's Merdeka Day celebration.

It said the initiative was also in support of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's call to relax movement restrictions on individuals who have completed the two doses of vaccination.

Meanwhile, MATFA also guarantees a safe travel bubble due to an effective entrance control system that will be part of COVID-19's standard operating procedures (SOP) when the theme parks, FECs and recreational centres are opened to the public.

At the same time, it said the existing SOP, such as the use of MySejahtera Check-In, allowing only low-risk visitors and two-dose vaccine recipients to enter the premises, observing physical distancing and the wearing of face masks, will continue to be implemented.

MATFA will continue to work with the Tourism Ministry to expedite the process of providing complete vaccination to its workers in theme parks, FECs and recreational centres.

At the same time, it said it would continue seeking the government's consideration to allow the opening of major businesses in the tourism industry in Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan.
