MBJB DOES NOT ALLOW ASSETS TO BE USED BY ANY PARTY FOR POLITICS

JOHOR BAHRU -- The Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) has never allowed any party to use its assets for political activities. In a statement today, MBJB said it took note of complaints from the public which went viral on social media regarding the use of its assets for political purposes, yesterday.

"MBJB has never allowed any party to use its assets for political activities, whether using party emblems on council assets, or other matters related to political agenda and interests that are clearly against the policies set by MBJB," he said.

MBJB also said the food basket assistance and other such aid channelled by it through its council members before this is across the boundaries of political, religious and racial beliefs of the residents.

Yesterday, a photograph went viral on social media showing several individuals, wearing a party's emblem, engaging in an activity as well as carrying the party's flag by riding on assets believed to belong to the MBJB.

OVER 600 SEREMBAN MARKET TRADERS, WORKERS UNDERGO COVID-19 SCREENING

SEREMBAN -- A total of 676 Seremban Central Market traders and workers underwent COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test Kit (RTK-Ag) screening at the market yesterday afternoon.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said of the total, 64 individuals were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

"Individuals tested positive for COVID-19 were given pink wristbands to wear by health workers and they were also instructed to undergo the Real-Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) screening which is capable of giving more accurate results," he said in a statement, today.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Health, Environment, Cooperatives and Consumerism chairman, S. Veerapan said the market will be closed for seven days starting tomorrow.

50 PCT OF SEMERAK DUN RESIDENTS VACCINATED

PASIR PUTEH -- About 50 per cent of the 80,000 residents of the Semerak state constituency (DUN) in Kelantan have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Semerak assemblyman Wan Hassan Wan Ibrahim said through the outreach vaccination centres (PPVs) which were being implemented, he aimed to achieve herd immunity in the area before the end of this year.

"Through outreach PPVs, the number of vaccine recipients will continue to increase to between 60 and 70 per cent. In addition, we are working to register those who have not done so through mukim (sub-district) chiefs in their respective areas," he told reporters when met at the Semerak DUN PPV outreach programme. here today.
