IPOH, July 22 -- A fire broke out at Padang Astaka Sitiawan in Manjung, about 90 kilometres from here, today involving six-hectare of shrubs.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department received a distressed call at 2.49 pm.
“The firemen took about two hours to put out the fire," he said in a statement.
The hot and dry weather was among the factors that caused the fire to spread so quickly, he said.
He also advised the public not to carry out open burning as it could lead to fires, especially in hot and dry weather.
