COVID-19 SHOULD BE MANAGED WITH TIGHT SOPs, NOT FEARED - MCDF
ALOR SETAR -- Of the opinion that the COVID-19 pandemic should not be feared, but managed well with tight SOPs, the Kedah Malaysian Civil Defence Force (MCDF) places great emphasis on this aspect when managing the burial of those who die from the disease.
Kedah MCDF director Lt Col (PA) Awang Askandar Ampuan Yaacub said as humans, it was natural for personnel involved in the operation to feel apprehensive and fearful in the beginning, however, the SOP issued by the Health Ministry last year had instilled confidence in them.
"With our experience of lowering the bodies into their graves, we have the confidence by complying with strict SOPs, and by understanding and analysing the risks in carrying out the task, God willing, the MCDF will perform its duties well," he told Bernama.

TREND OF OVER 4,000 COVID-19 DAILY CASES IN S’GOR WILL NOT CHANGE SO SOON - MB
BANGI -- The trend of 4,000 new daily COVID-19 cases recorded in Selangor will not change soon, as the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) takes time to show its effectiveness.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the EMCO enforced in several localities saw more targeted screenings being carried out, which indirectly contributed to the recent surge in daily cases.
“The effectiveness of EMCO cannot be seen within five to seven days; instead, it could only be seen in the second or third week,” he told reporters after attending the EMCO Vaccination Outreach programme at the Sri Ayu Flats here today.
The EMCO in Selangor involves 34 mukim in eight districts, namely Petaling; Hulu Langat; Sepang; Gombak; Kuala Langat; Klang; Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor, from July 3 to 16.
Selangor has been recorded over 4,000 daily COVID-19 cases since Thursday (July 8).
