KOTA KINABALU, April 7 -- Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) lawyers have filed a suit against Hassan A Gani Pg Amir for failing to resign as Sebatik state assemblyman upon his resignation from the party.
In a statement here, Warisan said the Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim were served by Messrs Liau Kee Siong & Co, representing the party, at Hassan's residence in Taman Fulliwa here at 3.35pm today.
The writ named Warisan secretary-general Datuk Loretto Padua Jr as the plaintiff on behalf of the party.
Among others, Warisan is seeking a court decision to compel Hassan, who cut ties with the party on Feb 25, to honour his pre-signed resignation letter as Sebatik assemblyman.
He won the Sebatik state seat in last year's Sabah state election under the Warisan ticket.
On Monday, he submitted his membership form to join Bersatu during the party’s second anniversary dinner here.
