Book on 'Six Principles Of Excellence' to boost management of Farmers' Organisations

PUTRAJAYA, April 1  -- The Farmers Organisation Authority (FOA) will use the book ‘Six Principles of Excellence for Farmers’ Organisations (CAMEL-T)’ as a guide and reference towards strengthening the management and administration of Farmers’ Organisations (FO).

Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) secretary-general Datuk Haslina Abdul Hamid said the book provided a practical formula, especially in the context of efficient and effective audit management to achieve a five-star management standard.

She said the 228-page book could be used as a reference by all levels of management at an FO, especially newly-appointed general managers, in order to reduce the risk of maladministration and negligence in complying with the laws.

“This can prevent abuse of power and leakages in management which can cause losses to the FOA entity and the people of Malaysia as a whole,’’ she told the media after launching the book here Wednesday night (March 31).

“The purpose of the book’s publication is to provide a clear explanation to the FO on what actions must be implemented in line with the compliance of the law, besides providing an understanding of the justification for every action and the consequences of not implementing them,’’ she said.

Meanwhile, FOA chairman Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh said the book was akin to a ‘dictionary’ to manage an FO in line with the related acts, regulations and circulars.

He said the book would help an FO to focus on law compliance and the fundamental and critical regulations with regard to its daily work routines.

Nik Muhammad hoped the book would benefit the 294 area FOs with almost a million members to become more efficient and transparent in their management.
