MEDAC wants to help resuscitate more than 2,000 inactive cooperatives

06/03/2021 06:32 PM

KOTA BHARU, March 6 -- The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) has detected more than 2,000 inactive cooperatives from a total of 14,668 registered cooperatives nationwide, said Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

Wan Junaidi said the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (CCM) would assist these cooperatives by providing them guidance and financial aid to help them to resuscitate their businesses.

"Some cooperatives did not submit full reports on their movements, including in terms of management. Efforts to help these inactive cooperatives are important because some are still in business but have not submitted a report," he told reporters after presenting assistance to cooperatives in a ceremony held at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian, here today.
