GUA MUSANG, March 2 -- The Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Air Unit made a mercy flight to send two Orang Asli women who are about to give birth from Pos Gob near here to the Gua Musang Hospital, this morning.
Norti Adek and Senah Raman, both 35, who are nine months pregnant have been in labour for three days but were facing difficulties to go to the hospital by the land route as it was badly damaged by the floods last November.
Subang Air Base public relations officer, Assistant Fire Commissioner Mohd Farhan Marzuki, said it received a request for the mercy flight from the Orang Asli Development Department in Gombak at 6 pm yesterday.
“The mercy flight using the Agusta AW139 helicopter was led by pilot Fire Superintendant Muhammad Muizz Md Pisar, assisted by Assistant Fire Commissioner Muhammad Akmaluddin Said.
“The helicopter left the Bertam JBPM airbase in Penang at 8.58 am and arrived at Pos Gob at 9.45 am. They landed at the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station at 10.25 am,” he said in a statement today.
Mohd Farhan said the two women, who were in stable condition, were sent to the Gua Musang Hospital using the JBPM’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services vehicle.
