JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 17 -- The Raban Anak Sarawak Johor has launched a donation fund on behalf of the family of Wilson Bangau, a Sarawakian who was killed in a small explosion at a palm oil processing plant in Tanjung Langsat, Pasir Gudang here yesterday.
Its chairman Muhammad Danish Sangkan Jantom told Bernama the society was aware that the cost to bring home the victim’s remains would be borne by his employer yet it felt obligated to help ease the family’s burden.
Muhammad Danish said those who wish to donate could contact the victim’s father Banggau Anak Ngilah at 010-5935388 or make contributions directly to his CIMB account at 7033726777.
Muhammad Danish said Wilson’s remains would be flown to his hometown in Kampung Kemintin Tengah, Sungai Klauh, Sri Aman, Sarawak as soon as the post-mortem was completed.
In yesterday’s incident, Wilson, 45, was killed after falling from a 15-metre high platform, where he was carrying out welding work on a tank that stored about 800 metric tonnes of crude glycerine.
His colleagues Bonsi Buli, 42, also fell and broke his leg while Muhamad Syafiq Abdul Rahman, 23, suffered burns on his face and hands and they are being treated at the Sultan Ismail Hospital here.
