25/01/2021 08:41 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Jan 25 -- District offices in Sabah are in the process of gathering information to ensure that the damage to public infrastructure caused by the floods that hit the state recently, can be repaired as soon as possible.

State Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim said the ministry had received reports on the damages in villages in several districts but was waiting for information and more detailed reports from their respective district offices, before taking further action.

“I have asked district offices to gather detailed information on the damages and we will immediately take action to repair these infrastructure facilities that are an urgent need for the residents.

“We know there are infrastructures such as damaged village roads and suspension bridges, and the ministry will ensure these problems are resolved as soon as possible, when we receive a detailed report,” he said.

Jahid was speaking to reporters after witnessing the contribution of 10,000 buns from Syarikat Kim Teck Cheong to Queen Elizabeth Hospital here today.

He said the contribution was in appreciation to frontline workers for their tireless efforts in the battle against COVID-19.

He also hoped more parties especially private companies would come forward to provide assistance not only to frontline staff, but to all those in need.
