24/11/2020 05:57 PM

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 24 -- The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) has confirmed that there was no pork DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) in the sample of mee curry taken from a restaurant in Subang Jaya, Selangor, claimed to contain pork and viralled.

The ministry’s Enforcement Division director, Datuk Iskandar Halim Sulaiman in a statement today said the lab test and analysis done by the Department of Chemistry found that the meat sample had chicken DNA.

“With the result of the analysis, the restaurant which was investigated under the Trade Description (Definition of Halal) Order 2011 and Trade Description (Certification and Marking of Halal) Order 2011, did not commit any offence under these laws," he said.

Iskandar Halim also called on consumers to be responsible by not disseminating false news or unverified issues on social media as this would be unfair and have a negative impact on the parties concerned.

He said the ministry would continue with enforcement monitoring to ensure halal compliance by food and beverage outlets with halal certification so as not to deceive consumers.
