PARIT, Nov 5 -- An elderly man who was detained after ramming two police lance corporals at the Perak police district headquarters (PDH) yesterday has been remanded for four days.
Perak Tengah acting police chief DSP Nik Rosdi Nik Yahya said the 64-year-old suspect was remanded to help further investigations.
He said the case is being investigated for attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code in addition to the investigation by the Perak Tengah Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division for reckless driving causing injury.
“Police are waiting for his blood test results. He was sent to Changkat Melintang Hospital yesterday and his health records show that he has diabetes.
“The suspect’s motive is still being investigated. The suspect’s family was also at the station after being informed of the incident,” he said when contacted today.
Nik Rosdi said both police personnel, a 26-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, received outpatient treatment at Changkat Melintang Hospital.
In the 12.00 am incident, the two police personnel were slightly injured after the motorcycle they were riding was rammed by a Mercedes driven by the elderly man who accelerated into the Perak Tengah PDH.
