JAKARTA, Nov 1 -- A magnitude 6.3 earthquake rocked north eastern region of Maluku in Indonesia today.
However, no tsunami warning was issued by the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG).
According to BMKG, the quake struck at 10.43 am (local time) with the epicentre at 198 km northeast of Maluku, at a depth of 196km at the seabed of the Arafura Sea, the waters between Papua Island and Australia.
BMKG is currently monitoring the situation which is feared to trigger aftershocks.
