KUALA LUMPUR Oct 24 -- Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri has congratulated the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) in conjunction with the 18th anniversary of the agency’s Arabic language desk.
He said the establishment of the service had further strengthened bilateral relations between Malaysia and Arab countries, especially in terms of conveying information.
“I (Zulkifli) would also like to congratulate (Bernama) for the immense effort to uphold the Arabic language, which is the glorious language of the Quran. I would like to call on them to further their efforts to achieve more success in providing services to Malaysia and the Arab world," he said in a statement on his official Arabic version Facebook page today
Bernama set up its Arabic language portal on Oct 24, 2002, to channel news on politics, economy, investment, tourism, education and Islamic religious affairs to 18 news organisations in Arab countries.
The portal offers the translation of news, articles and special reports produced by Bernama as well as news excerpts related to the development of Islam in Malaysia, or relevant to the relationship between Malaysia and Arab countries.
