KUCHING, Sept 27 -- Four members of a family were burnt to death in a fire at a grocery store at Kampung Dit in Debak, about 250km from here, early this morning.
A Sarawak Fire Operations Centre spokesperson said the victims were identified as Sirin Yusof, 60; Rosni Sari, 23, Dayang Ina Eset, 10, and Dayang Ina Arrohan, six.
He said a team from the Betong Fire and Rescue station rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at about 2.47 am.
The spokesperson said the store was completely destroyed in the blaze.
The fire was successfully doused by villagers and firemen, after which they found the four charred bodies.
“The victims’ remains were handed over to the police for further action," he said in a statement today.
