KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 -- The 12th Latin American Festival, which will showcase the multi-ethnic and cultural diversity of Latin America and the Caribbean, is being held online for the very first time.
Peruvian Ambassador to Malaysia, Guido F. Loayza, said the two-day cultural event, which will start at 5pm today, will play videos showcasing the continent's food, music, arts and crafts, heritage, and culture.
“This year’s Latin American Festival will be very different, being held online due to the restrictions imposed in view of COVID-19,” he told Bernama in an exclusive interview at Wisma Bernama, here, today.
He said embassies from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay will take part in the event jointly organised by the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) in collaboration with Plaza Low Yat, the Latin Women’s Association of Malaysia, and supported by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).
“The festival is a good opportunity to renovate the Malaysia-Latin America countries' friendship besides bringing the continent’s rich culture closer to Malaysian people,” said the ambassador, who is representing GRULAC embassies in Malaysia.
