LAHAD DATU, Sept 2 -- Police urge anyone with information on the influx of illegal immigrants or any form of outside threat to Sabah, to immediately report it to the authorities.
Lahad Datu district police chief ACP Nasri Mansor said the call was a step towards community solidarity in tackling cross-border crime and curbing the spread of COVID-19 from neighbouring countries.
“We are also worried that something untoward will happen during the state election, which is why people need to report if there is information on the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said in a statement here today.
Earlier today, Sabah police commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali said they had received information that immigrants from a neighbouring country were planning to enter Sabah in large numbers to create trouble during the Sabah state election.
Meanwhile, Nasri reminded all parties involved in the election campaign to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the Health Ministry to curb the spread of COVID-19.
He also confirmed that the Segangan, Silabukan areas here are high risk areas and hoped that preventive measures would be implemented to break the COVID-19 transmission chain.
