"This court has a problem with water seepage on the ceiling and walls of the building after heavy rain and the building's paint has also faded," he told reporters after visiting the court today.

Shabudin said the efforts to repair and upgrade the court were in line with the goal of ensuring more efficient service delivery and providing comfort to staff and all parties dealing with the court.

The Sandakan Court building has been operating for 17 years since 2003 consisting of the High Court, Sessions Court and the Magistrate's Court, he added.

He also said the government allocated RM5.49 million for the same purpose in other districts in Sabah such as Kudat, Lahad Datu, Keningau, Kinabatangan, Semporna, Beaufort, Tawau and Kota Kinabalu which will also start next year.

Shabudin also said there are also plans to increase the number of mobile court services in Sabah, from the three that have been operating since 2007.

He will discuss with the Chief Registrar General and the Ministry of Finance to add five more such services, which is aimed at serving the community in the interior of Sabah, especially pertaining to late birth registrations.

Currently, there are two mobile court services in Kota Kinabalu and one in Sandakan.
