KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 -- The local Indian community has been urged to respond to the government's challenge to constantly upskill themselves in order to ensure success in reaching the goals of the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 (WKB 2030).
Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Santhara Kumar said this was because the Indian community also played an important role in helping to boost the country's economy.
He said the government was ready to help and provide support to the Indian community, but this also required undivided commitment from the community itself.
“Their support for the government is very important because a stable government will ensure more investors come to the country,” he told a press conference after officiating a forum on the role and participation of the Indian Community in WKB 2030, here today.
Also present were Senior Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar.
Meanwhile, Santhara, who is also Segamat MP, said the forum discussed various matters including education, employment opportunities and housing for the development of the local Indian community.
“Through the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA), I have also listed in detail some proposals from the sectors to be included in the 2021 Budget and the 12th Malaysia Plan.
"This has been done so that by 2030, we can witness the roles played and benefits obtained by this community,” he said.
