ARAU, Aug 23 -- Twelve mosques in the state constituencies of Sanglang, Simpang Empat and Guar Sanji are reopen today.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said the reopening of the mosques would enable the people to perform congregational prayers and other religious activities include talks from Zohor prayers today.
“The people are reminded to fully comply with the health and safety standard operating procedures (SOP) as we are on the alert because the outbreak (COVID-19) is still with us,” said the Raja Muda in a statement today.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra who is also the president of Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) said mosque managements were told to be prepared and make early preparations to face any possibility if there is a need to close mosques.
Earlier, MAIPs ordered the closure of mosques in the three constituencies from Aug 7 following new COVID-19 cases in the state.
The government had announced the implementation of the Targeted Enhanced Movement Control Order (TEMCO) in two villages in Kuala Sanglang namely Kampung Kuala Sanglang and Kampung Tanah Timbul from Aug 10 to Aug 31.
