SEREMBAN, July 13 -- A total of 1.16 million residents from 387,000 homes in Negeri Sembilan will be involved in the Population and Housing Census of Malaysia (Census 2020), said State Secretary Datuk Dr Razali Ab Malik.
He said the exercise would be conducted in two phases, with the first phase from July 7 to Sept 30 involving an online data collection method (e-Census).
The second phase, from Oct 7 to Oct 24, would be conducted face-to-face via the Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI), Paper Assisted Personal Interview (PAPI) and Drop Off, Pick Up (DOPU) methods, he added.
“Of the total number of residences, more than 69,000 will receive the e-Census postcards in the first phase to enable households to take the online survey. For households that do not receive the postcards, they can pre-register online in order to get ID information to access the e-Census system at www.ecensus.mycensus.gov.my,” he said at a press conference on the state-level implementation of Census 2020 here today.
Commenting further, the state Census deputy commissioner said the face-to-face interview method would be conducted in compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by Ministry of Health (MoH) and the National Security Council (MKN) as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.
“The data collected from the census will benefit people from all walks of life because it can be utilised by the government to draw up people-centric plannings and policies,” he said.
Razali, while encouraging the public to provide the necessary information in the Census 2020 via online, however, said that the face-to-face approach would be used for those not skilled in the use of the online method.
