COVID-19: Melaka NGOs urged to assist state govt to revive economy

26/06/2020 11:36 PM

MELAKA, June 26 -- Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Melaka are urged to play an active role in assisting the state government in providing positive feedback or suggestions on any issues rather than criticising it, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.

International NGO chairman Datuk Dr Mustapha Ahmad Marican said such an approach would not only help the state government to improve its existing delivery systems or policies, but also bring benefits to the state and its people.

“One of the suggestions to be focused on is to revive all tourist attractions by organising various international activities or programmes to attract domestic and foreign tourist arrivals.

“The International Malay Language Debate also can be considered because it is an interesting programme and has a uniqueness to attract visitors,” he said in a statement here today.

He said the matter was presented during the NGO's courtesy call on Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam at his office in Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh here today.
